What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing that has been practiced for over 3,000 years. It is recognized by NIH as an effective therapy for a wide range of health conditions. In an acupuncture treatment, hair-thin sterile needles are inserted into particular points in the skin. The needles stimulate qi (pronounced chee), vital energy that flows through the meridians of your body. As qi is the root of life and all life activities, when its flow is stagnated or obstructed, it causes dysfunctions or pain. As this imbalance continues to develop, it can affect all levels of body, mind, and spirit. The needles help to restore normal movement and function of qi so that the patient can restore balance in their whole being. This can lead to the improvement of symptoms and an overall increased sense of wellness.
